WTC FREE FALL?

Anyone who's spent more than an hour listening to a ranting truther has doubtlessly heard the claim about the WTC collapsing at or near free fall velocity. They often use this claim along with a misunderstanding of Conservation of Momentum to construct yet another bold and asinine claim:

"The official story defies the laws of physics!"

Oh Yeah?

If you paid attention during 7th grade science class you might remember that objects constantly accelerate as they fall until they reach terminal velocity. So, what constitutes "near free fall" speed? To illustrate, I could point you to any number of credible research papers on the subject1 - but I've noticed that nothing gets a truther to close their PDF browser faster than a peer reviewed paper with mathematics. Fortunately, the free fall concept is fundamental enough that it doesn't require rigorous analysis to show why truthers need to outright drop this claim.

For Laughs
Read the comments here!

An object free falling from the top of the World Trade Center would take about 9.22 seconds to reach the ground. An object dropped from a building 210 ft taller than the WTC would take 10 seconds, and 11 seconds from the top of a building that was 577 ft taller than the WTC!!

So how much longer than 9.22 seconds did it take?
Watch this video from 1:00 to 1:27 and see for yourself!

While the video won't provide an exact number, it clearly shows the collapse took several seconds longer than "free fall" speeds. Even the truther sponsored web pages that manage to get the theory and formulas right are still plugging in the wrong numbers. Do you know what this means?

Yeah, that's right... It means you troofers should stick to cherry picking obscure anomalies that can't be proved either way, because your "physics defying" theories suck balls!
